Health & Social Care

At The Buckingham School we offer Health and Social Care from Year 9. It is a vocational subject that develops a range of skills, techniques, understanding, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successfully working in a care setting, as well as providing skills for life.

In the Sixth Form, students apply what they learn through active involvement in a care-related work placement. They gain insight and experience in care work which will help them to make decisions about further education and/or a future career working in health, social care or early years.

The Health and Social Care industry is far-reaching. It is a sector that has an incalculable influence on so many in our society. In fact, it is a sector that will impact on everyone at some point in their life. There are a range of rewarding careers at all levels and a huge amount of opportunity for progression. It is a rewarding but challenging career and the students at The Buckingham School get an opportunity to discover more about the organisations which help to shape their life.
