A Specialist Sports College The school was designated a Specialist Sports Colleges in March 2004 and was successfully re-designated in December 2009. As a Sports College we position PE and Sport at the centre of the curriculum, using it as a vehicle to develop and improve learning opportunities for all.
As a Sports College, our strategy is to enhance young people’s opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports as well as raising the standards of teaching and learning across all curriculum areas. The school provides many opportunities for cross-curricular projects using the Specialism and we find that students respond well to the sporting aspect and become more engaged with their learning. Students are able to study for a variety of sporting qualifications ranging from GCSEs and BTECs to Sports Leadership awards and Football Coaching Certificates. There are many opportunities for students of all abilities to enjoy a range of activities and achieve success in the sports that they enjoy the most.
Community Links

The school provides young people the opportunity to access a range of excellent facilities and equipment. We also aim to assist our local community and link clubs in training their volunteer force in order to develop their personal skills and the quality of the opportunities and success in their clubs.

Mrs Howard works very closely with Headteachers at our partner schools to ensure that we:
