This is a very exciting time for all Year 9 students at The Buckingham School. As you are fully aware students are embarking on the first stages of their GCSE & BTEC courses. The results of these achievements have the ability to open doors of opportunity for their future. We all want them to achieve their best and maximise their potential. I look forward to working with you to achieve this.
Students will encounter several challenges over the next few years including the ability to work with students with whom they may have had no previous contact; increased expectation of time and effort spent on independent study & more pressure for consistency of higher standards of performance in all areas.
Regular attendance is vital throughout the next 3 years. Research shows a direct correlation between attendance at school and achievement. Our expectation is 96%. Please avoid holidays during term time as it can impact upon your child’s learning and future achievement.
As a pastoral team, we are here to support your son/daughter through all these changes and challenges.
Please do contact their tutor regarding any issues so we can work together to resolve them. We also want to recognise and actively encourage any achievements in or out of school so that we are able to celebrate this.
The pastoral team all look forward to working with you over the next few years to support our students, to maximise their potential and fulfil their hopes and ambitions.
Mr Mark McElroy
